Hi there!
I'm Emily Kampa, a printmaker based in San Francisco working in copper plate etching and linocut.
I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota — green, humid, lake-hopping summers and snowy, quiet winters. I've called San Francisco home for the past seven years and love living close to the ocean with her tide pools, rocky coasts, and seaweed-covered beaches.
My work moves between two ongoing areas of research: reproductive health and the flora and fauna of California — edible seaweeds, native species, invasive landscapes. Often inspired by the quieter moments in life, my recent prints have ranged from identifying local flora to exploring shared experiences in my beloved communities. I draw on my own experiences when designing prints, hoping to connect with and maybe even educate my audience on stories that matter to me.
